Julie M. L. Martin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy. Dr. Martin is also a Counselor Educator specializing in supervision of new marriage and family therapists. Dr. Martin maintains a private practice in Columbia, South Carolina.
With over seven years experience as a therapist, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina specializing in Counselor Education, she is currently a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are couples with communication issues, trust issues, reconnection issues, as well as separating couples who need guidance. Therapeutic issues individuals present include issues of self-doubt, self-esteem, differentiating from families of origin, and understanding more about oneself. She has successfully worked with families who have issues with children, to include adult children or younger children struggling with divorce or other mental health issues, as well as families that simply cannot get along.
In addition, Dr. Martin has presented at National conferences as well as general audiences lecturing on the topics of social class and racial differences of therapist and clients.
Dr. Martin is an interactive, systemic therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complimentary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they’re striving for.
